Now that you’ve planned the who, what and where, it’s now time to start making reservations.
You might have decided to hire a wedding planner or you are the planner ;). Either way, start by creating an Excel sheet with names and numbers of your vendors. Who to call in case there are any last minute changes and so forth. Revise and update as time goes on, as things will no doubt change many times.
For starters, you’ll need to add the Venue, Flowers, and Transportation.
Place your orders and pay any deposits necessary to secure your vendors.
Meet with your vendors and make sure you’ve crossed your t’s and dotted your i’s. The more specific you are from the get go, the less you will have to worry.
Order your invitations and mail them out at least 2-3 months in advance. You can also consider sending out a “save the date” card a year in advance.
Stay in contact with your vendors and always make sure to receive updated confirmations. Look them over!!! Mistakes happen, however many could be easily prevented – just by looking over your confirmations.
Lastly, don’t forget to have your maid of honor or best man to plan out the bachelor party / bachelorette party with the vendor you chose for transportation. This makes it a lot easier, and you may qualify for a discount for multiple reservations.
